TWO DUCK AND SHOREBIRD CARVINGS BY WENDELL H. GILLEY.Mid-1960's, Southwest Harbor, Maine. Carved by Wendell H. Gilley (1904-1983). The first, a lifelike carving titled "ESKIMO CURLEW", dated "1966", mounted on a natural wood plinth posed with the bird preening its plumage. Signed on the base "Gilley" in pen. The second, titled "PINTAIL", signed and dated on the driftwood base "Gilley" above the date "1966". The third, a carving of a " HEN PINTAIL" mounted on a driftwood base, unsigned and undated. SIZE: 5-3/4" h x 5" l. 5" h x 9-1/2" l. 5" h x 9-1/2" l. PROVENANCE: A most historical and important collection from the estate of Maria Decatur Mayo Deyo (Lila) Garnett of Kittery Point, Maine.
