RARE AND UNUSUAL FOLK ART SCULPTURE OF A HUNTING SCENE.Late-19/early-20th century American. This whimsical example depicting two raccoons treed by hunting dogs beneath which stands a hunter with rifle drawn, lantern at his feet all on a rock work landscape. The landscape and tree in sand paint; the raccoons, dogs, hunter and lantern in enamel polychrome paint. SIZE: 19-1/4" h x 12-3/4" l x 8-3/4" w. PROVENANCE: Contents of a lifetime collection "Brook Crossing", South Pomfret, VT. CONDITION: All surfaces original. Reattachment of small tip to limb in tree. Gun intact, in need of reattachment to hunter. Small losses to sand paint along edge of base, otherwise very good. 52806-30 HMG (400-600)
