EARLY AMERICAN LADDERBACK ARMCHAIR.Late 18th-early 19th century New England. This unusual example of mixed wood with turned broom handle finials on sausage-turned stiles with cylindrical turned crest rail above two shaped slats. The horizontal cylindrical arms joined to sausage turned frontal legs centering a woven seat above a double box stretcher. SIZE: 42" h (back), 15" h (seat) x 21" w. PROVENANCE: Contents of a lifetime collection "Brook Crossing," South Pomfret, VT. CONDITION: Structurally very good, the frame with highly polished surface, the woven seat with losses but remains structurally functional. 52806-133 HMG (200-400)
