ESA - FINE REGENCY BRASS INLAID MAHOGANY LAP DESK.First quarter 19th century England. The grained simulated rosewood lap desk with unusual telescoping interior with hinged lid opening to a tooled leather and gilt writing surface. Upon opening the writing slope with ivory escutcheon and depressing the hidden mechanism within the lock receiver, the section housing the inkwells, pen tray and one lidded compartment with ivory knob rises up from within the case exposing three hidden drawers. The brass bound lap desk with brass carrying handles all in the Campaign style. SIZE: 6-3/4" h x 17-3/4" l x 10-1/4" d. CONDITION: Professionally restored and re-polished. The outer surface of lid with old shrinkage crack repair now fully restored and polished. Good overall. 52829-97 HMG (800-1,200) ESA -
