First quarter 19th century, America. The circular mirror plate within a molded ebony surround, set within a molded gilt frame, mounted with spherules.. Surmounted by a displayed eagle perched on rock work, flanked by scrolled pierced leaf work carvings at the shoulders, all above a pendant floral and leaf tip apron. SIZE: 33-1/2" h x 20" d. CONDITION: Gilding with abrasions and some losses, notably on outer frame. Mirror plate original, in good condition with minor foxing. Some shrinkage cracks in outer edge of molded frame, restoration to apron and with some touch-ups to gold leaf. Mirror is accompanied by a single spherule suspended from chain which may have originally been attached to beak of eagle. 52829-67 HMG (1,200-1,800)
