EARLY AMERICAN LADDERBACK ARMCHAIR.Early 19th century New England. Of mixed woods, the four slat ladderback with knop ball finials on sausage turned stiles joined to slightly curved flattened arms above the trapezoidal woven seat. The frontal turned legs with mushroom cap grips, all joined by double box stretcher. SIZE: 41" h (back), 14" h (seat) x 20" w. PROVENANCE: Contents of a lifetime collection "Brook Crossing," South Pomfret, VT. CONDITION: Legs have been ended out. Proper left rear leg cut between stretchers with 7" section of lower leg replaced. Woven seat appears original. Chair has been overly cleaned. 52806-155 HMG (200-400)
