SHERATON INLAID MAHOGANY FOUR DRAWER CHEST.Second quarter 19th century New England. The rectangular top with turret corners raised on turned and reeded pilasters. The case fitted with four graduated long drawers, each with cockbeaded edge, figural mahogany panels, and rosewood crossbanding. The case sides with matched, recessed panels. The whole raised on turned legs with ring cuffs and ball feet centering a scalloped apron, the case sides with similar aprons. SIZE: 41-1/2" h x 41-1/2" w x 20" d. CONDITION: Case retains original surface with age darkened, colored patina. Proper left front turret corner with veneer losses. All drawers with loss to cockbeading on edges. Veneer facae on case sides have loosened from case and in need of reattachment. Case is somewhat loose throughout, needing stabilization. Backboards and legs original.
