ANTIQUE MAHAL CARPET.Early 20th century, northern Persia. The unusual turtleback polled medallion in rose-red, chartreuse, and pale indigo on a blue-black field with dense geometric design, the field with undulating wave border continuing to similarly designed spandrels. The rose-red main border with floral trellis work within plain camel-brown guard borders. SIZE: 6' 4" x 16' 8". CONDITION: Rug with normal and expected wear overall. Retains moderate pile and strong palate. Now with replaced fringe. This example has been professionally washed and treated, resulting in some slight unevenness of color notably apparent in camel borders within normal and acceptable parameters. 52829-89 hmg (3,000-5,000)
