TWO PRIMITIVE THREE-LEGGED STOOLS.18th/19th century, England. The first a round turned hardwood example with incised decoration raised on three cylindrical splayed ring-turned oak legs. The second fashioned from a plank segment of nice form with gnarled knots and polished surface showing in-use wear from edged tool, raised on three splayed legs formed from tree branches. SIZE: The first 12" h x 12-1/2" dia. The second 14" h x 18-1/2" w x 14-1/2" d. PROVENANCE: Contents of a lifetime collection "Brook Crossing", South Pomfret, VT.
