TWO PRIMITIVE FRAMED SILK WORKS.Late 18th/early 19th century, probably England. The first of oval form wrought depicting a young woman seated beneath a willow tree holding a bonnet in left hand at play with her dog, within a fruit and foliate border on a silk ground. Housed in a walnut frame. The second, a primitive example depicting a young child with silk button dress with ribbon-tied cuffs, wearing pantaloons and red shoes, holding a toy whip fashioned from a needle and thread, standing on a rectangular mat, the fringe made of common pins and adorned with foil rosettes and brass stars. Mounted on a lithograph print of an ivy covered cottage. Housed in an oak frame of the period. SIZE: Example one: 8" h x 6-1/2" w, overall: 10-1/2" x 8-1/2". Example two: 5-3/4" h x 4-3/8" w, overall: 8-1/3" x 7". CONDITION: Frames, glass and silkworks all original. The first example very good overall; the second with some deterioration to child's dress.
