ESA - WALNUT CARVED INLAID FITTED BOX.Mid-19th century Pennsylvania or Mid-Atlantic region. The rectangular hinged lid with molded edge carved with a cartouche centering a bone inlay; stylized pinwheels at the corners. Opening to interior with till fitted with a conforming box with sliding lid, nicely carved with molded edge and bone inlay. The dovetailed box with molded base and bone shield form escutcheon retaining original lock and hasp. Box is offered with key. SIZE: 5-1/4" h x 13-1/2" l x 8-1/2 d. PROVENANCE: Contents of a lifetime collection "Brook Crossing", South Pomfret, VT. CONDITION: Old if not original surfaces. Nicely polished with fine patina and mellow tea brown color.
