Arsenal refinished for issue during World War II, this 1897 Trench Gun was the most successful of the combat shotguns utilized by US forces during the War. Manufactured in 1920 these guns where used during our post World War I excursions into South America in what is commonly known as the Banana Wars. At the onset of World War II these guns where refinish/parkerized if needed and issued extensively. This model has the proper blued six row ventilated heat shield. Later World War II replacement stocks with the thick wrist and GHD (Guy Dewey) inspected with Ordnance proof. Winchester logo hard composite buttplate. CONDITION: Good overall as arsenal rebuilt. The green-grey parkerized finish is very good with over 85% remaining with most loss being on magazine tube and edges of receiver at high points. Stocks are in excellent condition with no cracks. Fine action with a clean, shiny bore. Overall a very nice example of the iconic American battle shotgun.
