This is an early February of 1973 produced gun made by Springfield Armory in Devine, Texas prior to their move to Illinois in 1974. This gun features the variation "DEVINE TEX" marking that is hand stamped under the barrel, which is only found in the serial number range of 000689 - 000850. Early M1A rifles were built with surplus G.I. parts until Springfield Armory, Inc. began manufacturing their own and were made using surplus M14 receiver blanks. This gun has a mixture of different M14 contract parts including a TRW bolt and SA trigger group housing and op rod. D.O.D. eagle cartouche on the left side of the M14 stock, with circle P proof on front of grip. Flashider with bayonet lug. This was made during the Vietnam War period. Military contract 20 round magazine. Tool in trap in butt. CONDITION: Retains 95% original finish overall with some light surface rust in the flashider cuts. Wood is fine with minor handling marks. Bore is fine with sharp rifling. Fine mechanical function.
