Features round barrel, post front sight, carbine stamped rear sight, and single band. Block is stamped "US MODEL 1873". Top of barrel is stamped "R", side of barrel has "VP" eagle head proof. Sideplate stamped "US SPRINGFIELD" with eagle. Walnut stock has cursive "P" in circle on wrist. Left side of stock is stamped "SWP 1880" for Sam Porter. Buttplate is stamped "US". CONDITION: Barrel retains approximately 95% original bright blue. Block has approximately 90% case colors. Sideplate retains 90% of the dark blue-black finish. 50% blue on trigger guard. 50% blue on trapdoor metal buttplate. Wood is excellent to near mint with two small holes of sling eyes that could easily be filled. Some chipping of wood at front of trigger guard and usual field dings. Strong rifled bore. Fine action. Extremely fine condition overall.
