Gun (A) is a Colt Burgess lever action carbine. Total production from 1883 to 1885 was a mere 1,621. Features full round barrel, full magazine, replaced German silver front sight, folding ladder rear sight, twin barrel bands, blued finish and walnut stocks. CONDITION: 85% blue on barrel with brown patina showing through. Frame has 85% reapplied wiped-on blued finish. Walnut forend has a repaired 2" crack on right side. Stock is shy to metal and has been refinished with wrist repair. Fine action. Strong rifling with sharp edges. Bore has some minor residue. Both carbines are nice enough and rare enough to warrant restorations on both but are good shooters as is. Gun (B) is a Colt Baby Lightning slide action carbine manufactured 1891. Features full round barrel, full magazine, single barrel band, post front sight, ladder carbine rear sight, saddle ring and stud, two piece checkered walnut forend, and walnut buttstock with carbine plate. CONDITION: This Baby Carbine retains approximately 90% of the reapplied blue finish with some overall pitting under finish. Forend is very good with small crack on right panel. Walnut buttstock is shy to metal with a period wrist repair. Rifling is pronounced but grooves are dirty and dull. Great restoration candidate.
