Lot contains: A) Cane handle features a gold plated cannon sitting atop a naval capstan, finely scroll engraved and with the inscription "Hon Wm C. Wallace". Ebony shaft with nice untouched rich patina, 1-1/2" ferrule at the bottom. William Copeland Wallace (1856 –1901) was a U.S. Representative from New York. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he served as assistant United States Attorney for the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York in 1880–1883. He was appointed judge advocate general on the staff of Governor Morton in 1894. Wallace was elected as a Republican to the Fifty-first Congress (March 4, 1889 - March 3, 1891). B) Presentation cane engraved on the silver top "Presented To Governor General Leonard Wood March 1923 By H. G. Rosul". The hooked top displays the letters "LW" intertwined in gold on the front and a gold mounted piece of mother-of-pearl at the top. 32" overall with a maple shaft, the silver top is cracked on its underside, through the date of the presentation. Leonard Wood (1860 - 1927) was a United States Army major general, physician, and public official. He received the Medal of Honor for his role in the Apache Wars and became the personal physician to the President. At the outbreak of the Spanish–American War, Wood and Roosevelt organized the Rough Riders. Wood was promoted to the rank of brigadier general during the war and fought in the Battle of San Juan Hill and other engagements. After the war, Wood served as the Military Governor of Cuba and Army Chief of Staff from 1910 - 1914. Wood retired from the army in 1921 and was appointed Governor General of the Philippines later that year. He held that position until his death in 1927. CONDITION: Both are in excellent condition.
