Features round barrel, high post front sight, 1800 meter Model 1896 rifle sight, short open front two rivet hand guard, walnut stock with finger groove, sight protector barrel band, saddle ring and bar, and trapdoor smooth metal buttplate. Cartouche "JSA 1898" on left side of stock. Cursive "P" on wrist. CONDITION: Barrel retains 95% original blue. 90% blue on frame. Cartridge cover is blue-grey patina with some wipe-on finish. 50% blue on box. Polished bolt. Brown patina trigger guard. Stock is excellent with usual dings and a chip to left heel. According to the Brophy book, the serial range for true 98 carbine is 118894 to 134256. Serial number on this rifle is 104 numbers lower, clearly close to range and barely 104 off, but the rear sight is not a 98 Krag Carbine sight. Everything else looks legit for a 98 Krag carbine, including the fit of the saddle bar and sights which were frequently changed.
