Manufactured in white metal, and finished in black. It is of a lattice frame design with the main arm activated by a pinch grip and fine movements with a screw micrometer device. The arm is clearly stamped with the Kriegsmarine "Eagle/Swastika/M", followed by its Kriegsmarine number “11163”. The arc is graduated -5 to 130 and is stamped with its manufacturing number “26852” at one end. There is an index mirror with four hinged shades and a horizon mirror with three hinged shades. All mirrors are 100% perfect with no discoloration. Standing on three legs with a Bakelite handle to the reverse, stamped with manufacturers logo "IPS". Complete with a single telescope, individual eye focus, perfect stippled black finish. Housed in its original, fitted, dovetailed wooden case, measuring 12-3/4" by 12-3/4" by 7". It has a hinged lid, metal catches, metal carrying handle and metal plate marked Eagle/Swastika/”M 11163”. In the lid is a Certificate of Validation dated January 6, 1945 and the case retains the original brush, tool and lens cover. CONDITION: Instrument is in excellent condition. This case is in excellent condition, with no damage, and only minor scuffs to the exterior. From the Ray Bentley collection.
