Lot containing a Third Reich Land Customs Dagger with Hanger and Portepee. The overall condition of this dagger is very good. The steel blade retains a light cross graining with areas of light freckling and runner marks from the scabbard. The reverse side of the blade is etched with the maker's logo for the firm of "E. F. Horster". The aluminum cross guard and pommel nut are in near mint condition showing light patina and natural wear on the hand defined details of the eagle and oak leaves. The leather wrapped wooden core grip is wound with a delicate twist-braid silver wire. The grip has light natural wear with no tears or holes. The scabbard is in fair condition. The scabbard's original leather wrapping has been lost to time, and it appears that a previous owner has painted the leather area to match the green of the original wrapping. The aluminum fittings on the scabbard shows signs of wear with a few dents, and the original retaining screws have been replaced. This dagger is accompanied with the correct silver and green accented hanger. The hanger is in excellent condition showing minimal wear to the straps or aluminum fittings. The portepee is silver with gray flakes and portepee core. All in all, this is an uncommon dagger to find in any condition.
