Third Reich Second Model Railway Leader's Dagger by Carl Eickhorn with correct hanger and luftwaffe style portepee. The Second Model Railway Dagger was introduced in 1937. This new design gave the organization's dagger a more identifying look, as opposed to it's first model dagger which was patterned off the dress dagger of the Heer. The dagger is in overall near mint condition. The steel blade is in near mint plus condition. Visible cross-graining can be seen running the entire length of the blade. A few very light runner marks are observed on each side of the blade from being inserted and removed from the scabbard. The blade also has the manufacturers squirrel logo etched on the reverse of the blade, near the cross guard, which denotes the firm of "Carl Eickhorn, Solingen". The aluminum cross guard and pommel cap are in near mint condition, with a light, even, patina throughout. A minor manufacturing dimple is observed on the reverse of the pommel cap. The black synthetic trylon grip is in near mint condition with minor light wear to the reverse. The steel plating of the scabbard is nearly 99% intact. One small dent is noticed on the lower front section of the scabbard near the end, this dent does not affect the function of the blade being inserted in the scabbard. The correct silver with black trimmed hangers also accompany this dagger. The hangers are in excellent condition, with roughly 80% of the silver wash remaining to the fittings and the cloth straps showing only minor fraying to a few select areas. A short Luftwaffe style portepee, which rates in excellent condition, also accompanies this dagger and is attached to the grip. This is a rare opportunity to own a desirable, and tough to find, Second Model Railway Dagger with the correct hangers.
