The NPEA Dagger was commissioned in 1935 and modeled its design off the earlier SA and SS daggers. Their design was virtually the same, except for the addition of a bayonet lug on the NPEA scabbard. The NPEA was a conglomerate of three schools whose function was to groom its students, with an emphasis on political doctrine, for roles in state departments or military leadership. The blade on this dagger is in near mint condition, showing excellent cross graining, light runner marks, and transparent freckling in areas covering approximately 30% of the blade. The blade motto "Mehr Sein Als Scheinen", which translates into "Be More Than You Appear", is neatly etched on the obverse of the blade. The reverse of the blade shows the etched name of the distributor "Karl Burgsmuller, Berlin". The aluminum cross guards are in near mint condition. The rosewood grip is in excellent condition, showing only minimal signs of use. The scabbard retains approximately 98% of its original factory green paint, and is in near mint condition. The leather frog is in excellent condition show with minimal signs of use, and is marked on the reverse "E. O. Gotze & Sohn, Gersdorf, 1941". NPEA daggers rarely come out on the market for sale in this condition, this is a rare opportunity to own one in near mint condition.
