This early FN rifle with receiver ring not drilled and tapped, has 24" lightweight barrel with no provision for rear sight. Rear portion is marked with proofs, "1953" and caliber. FN large ring action is fitted with Lyman 57 aperture sight. Bottom metal has removable floorplate with button at rear. Receiver ring, bridge, and bottom metal are engraved with 70% coverage acanthus scroll. Lightly figured European walnut capped pistol grip buttstock measures 13-7/8" over horn FN buttplate, and features swept right hand cheekpiece and well cut point pattern checkering with wide borders at grip and around forend. CONDITION: Excellent, as found. Metal parts retain approximately 95% original blue. Stock retains over 90% of its original varnish, with some chips, marks, and scratches. Bore is excellent. Action is smooth. A scarce post war FN rifle in need of a good cleaning. MGM32
