This interesting carbine has many attributes of the type "A" (English model) but is missing some components. 20" Round barrel is fitted with sleeved-on sling eye and ramp front sight in type "A" fashion. Rear sight has been removed, but appears to have been a tangent curve type. Large ring action has stippled receiver ring, and has been fitted with Lyman 35 bolt stop rear sight. Case hardened bolt is from another rifle, and has butter knife type handle. Bottom metal (serial number 51151) has hinged floorplate with lever release. Trigger is of military double pull type. Stock of nicely fiddle figured European walnut measures 13 - 3/4" over steel trap buttplate, and features right hand cheekpiece, sunburst grip cap, point pattern checkering at grip, and typical Mauser pattern forend checkering. Forend tip is of horn in type "A" style. CONDITION: Good, due to mismatched and missing parts. Barrel and action retain 80 - 90% original blue. Bottom metal retains 20% blue. Stock retains most of an old oil refinish. Grip cap is a modern replacement. Bore is excellent. Action is smooth. MGM21
