Lot contains: (A) Third Reich Police Officer Sword, and (B) Third Reich Luftwaffe Sword. (A) The Third Reich Police Officer Sword is, overall, in very good condition. The 33" steel blade, marked "Carl Eickhorn", is in excellent condition with an, even, dull silver look and a few small nicks to the cutting edge. The silver plated hand guard, ferrules, and pommel cap are in near mint condition. The wire wrapped ebony grip is in excellent condition with an even, dull look from use, and a few small chips near the grip emblem. The central police motif on the grip is made of brass, which has lost all of its original silver finish. There is some white residue build up in the recesses of the grip. The scabbard is black painted steel with silver plated locket and chape. A small dent exists about half way down the scabbard. The scabbard retains approximately 95% of the black paint, however, it appears as though the scabbard could possibly be repainted. (B) The Luftwaffe Officers Sword is, overall, in very good condition. The 30", chrome plated, "SMF" maker marked, blade is in very good condition. The blade has nicks along both cutting edges, with some minor freckling and scattered light marks throughout. The earlier silver-plated brass cross guard and pommel are in excellent condition. Both show an even tarnishing and patina from the higher copper content of the silver plating. The blue leather wrapped grip is wound with two strands of twisted wire. The leather shows signs of wear to approximately 50% of the leather, mostly on the high points. The blue leather wrapped steel scabbard is in excellent condition. A few small scattered marks are present on the leather. The silver plated scabbard throat and lower fitting are both uncleaned and show a nice even patina, matching that of the hilt. The scabbard throat has an engraved crown logo with the letter "J" under it. The scabbard is missing its original leather hanger.
