Made in Canterbury England, this boxlock 12 gauge shotgun is of mid grade. It has 28" barrels with a plain top rib and brass front bead. Tops of barrels are marked "H.S. Greenfield & Son / 5 Dover Street Canterbury". It has a crossbolt action that is lightly game scene engraved on sides with wave border pattern and scroll engraved on fences. Splinter forend with Deeley release is checkered in four point pattern with triangular horn tip. Gun has double triggers, automatic ejectors, and automatic safety. Buttstock is checkered in two point pattern with brass oval near toe and terminates with well fitted blued steel heel and toe plates. Action was originally case hardened, with blued floorplate, trigger plate and trigger guard. CONDITION: Very good as partially restored. Barrels retain about 90% of a reblued finish. Floorplate, forend iron, and trigger plate and guard have all been professionally reblued. Buttstock and forend retain most of a professionally restored finish, as do the heel and toe plates. There are several scratches in the butt near the right side of the action. Action has toned to silver with light wear to engraving. Bores are bright and shiny and mechanics are functional.
