Fine original type one National Postal meter M1 Carbine made between November, 1943 and June, 1944. Barrel correctly marked Underwood with flaming bomb and dated 10-43. Original front sight with late war milled slide adjustable rear sight. Correct "SN" marked safety button. All internal parts consistently marked with date of production. Correct swivel marked "UN". Correct stock with deep 2 rivet forearm. Stock marked with crisp ordnance wheel, crisp NPM, FJA cartouche on right side. Oval oiler cut stock. Oiler is marked "IS". Comes with original style woven sling. CONDITION: Exceptionally fine overall. Barrel retains 95% of original arsenal finish with some light oxidation and handling marks. Bore is excellent. Action retains 95% original arsenal finish with minute wear on moveable parts. Stock retains over 95% original finish with a 1/2" bruise in front of the magazine well. Sharp visible cartouche. These type one M1 carbines in unaltered condition are rarely found and this example would be difficult to improve upon..
