Late 19th to early 20th century, England. The rectangular box of quarter sawn oak with sloping edge above the brass receptacle plate, embossed "LETTERS" above a hinged door with rectangular viewing plate. The box is offered with key. Old original surface with normal and expected in use wear, structurally very good.
