This is an early 1st Model manufactured in 1875 for the US Government. Period nickel plated after its release through resale to private dealer. This revolver was named after Colonel George Schofield. It is a six shot, single action built on top break frame. The butt is stamped "US" with serial number. Matching serial numbers can be found on cylinder along with inspector mark "L". Bottom of barrel has inspector stamp "B". Gun is fully nickel plated and sports a pair of two piece walnut grips with visible but not readable cartouche on left panel. Right grip is stamped with matching serial number "737". CONDITION: Overall, this revolver retains 60-70% of its period applied nickel finish with balance simply turning soft patina and age freckling. Indexes and locks up like new. Rifling is well defined but does have some usual black powder abrasion.
