This gun was made as a collaborative effort between Remington and the Peace Officer Equipment Company. To find these guns with the extended detachable magazine are hard enough, but what makes this gun even better is that in addition to the factory "POLICE GUN-PROPERTY OF" marking on the left side of the receiver is it also has the police department that owned it, "SHERIFF DEPT. NO.41/ LOS ANGELES COUNTY". Marked on the magazine: "PEACE OFFICER EQUIPMENT CO./ ST. JOSEPH-MO/ patent No 2,081,235/ 35 CAL.". The magazine has the matching serial number to the gun stamped on the left side at the front. Based on the barrel code of "BL", this gun was made in January of 1942. CONDITION: Very fine retaining 95% original blue with some very slight wear/handling marks. There is some slight rust staining on the edges of the buttplate with matching water staining on the stock which did not compromise the integrity of the wood, simply stained it. Wood is fine with light handling marks and staining towards butt as noted. Excellent bore with sharp rifling. Excellent mechanical function.
