Standard issue 1884 Indian Wars trapdoor. Features 1884 rear sight, hooded front sight, standard cleaning rod. "VP" proofs on barrel. Block is stamped "US MODEL 1884". Sling swivels on trigger guard and front band. CONDITION: All metal is a freckled brown-blue patina. Cartouche on left side of stock is not readable. Wood is very good to excellent with usual dings. Strong rifling with minor abrasions. The butt of this rifle is stamped "3 TEX F1", this is one of a half dozen trapdoors issued to the 3rd Texas Volunteers for the Spanish American War.
