Shipped on January 21st, 1904. This factory engraved Colt was sent in a shipment of three guns to H&D Folsom Arms Company, New York with a 5-1/2" barrel, .45 caliber, nickel finish, factory engraved and stocks not listed. The stocks were probably put on by the dealer and are beautifully aged two piece ivory. Cuno A. Helfricht was in charge of the Colt Engraving Department during this era. When referencing the book "Colt Engraving" by Wilson, the Cuno Helfricht chapter has every aspect of this engraving including chicken feet, sunburst, Moravian star, punch dot background, scrolls and borders. A very similar example can be seen on page 295, bottom photo, serial No. 193469 which is nearly identical. This would be considered a Class C engraving job with engraving on every major part of the gun including barrel, housing, frame, cylinder, trigger guard, backstrap and loading gate. CONDITION: Overall revolver retains approximately 60% of the original nickel finish. The majority of wear is on the cylinder which blends to a dark grey patina, and the forward part of the frame from firing. Some scattered aging about the barrel. Flaking on grip straps. It has never been touched, all original finish with razor sharp legends. The ivory grips have beautifully aged with dark lines and have turned a mellow color, complete with no chips or cracks. Action has all four Colt clicks and locks up like a bank vault. Strong, clean rifled bore. A very nice example of a classic Helfricht engraved turn of the century Colt Single Action Army.
