Manufactured between 1863 and 1875, it became one the most popular and sturdiest revolvers of the Civil War. Features full octagon barrel, solid top strap, six shot, single action, percussion, blued finish, brass trigger guard and varnished two piece walnut grips. Martial inspector mark "M" on left side of trigger guard; no other visible stamps which could indicate civilian sales as there are usual numerous other inspector marks. No visible cartouches on grips. CONDITION: Metal overall is a rich, smooth blue-brown-plum patina. Traces of plating on trigger guard. Excellent varnished walnut grips with usual edge wear. Original nipples. Indexes and locks up tight. Sharp rifling with minor black powder residue. Comes with an old museum collection tag.
