These were made at Springfield Armory from 1848 until 1859. Brass mounted. Features a large sling ring bar on the left side going from the sideplate to the rear barrel band. Smoothbore. CONDITION: Metal has been cleaned with light pitting on barrel and lock. Markings in metal are clear with the exception of the barrel date which is illegible due to pitting. Brass has been polished. Wood has been refinished with some well done inletted wood repairs. Cartouche is still visible. Reproduction ramrod swivel and nipple, sling ring and bar are most likely reproductions as well. Bore is pitted. Lock only holds at half cock, spring is a bit soft.
