1850 dated Harpers Ferry lock. Barrel is dated 1850 on the tang, although the barrel date and "VP" markings may have been restored. "AW/P" inspectors mark on the barrel appears original. There is also an "M" stamped int eh barrel on the left side under the rear sight. The barrel is .58 caliber. "JLR" inspector mark on the left side of the stock appears to be of newer application. CONDITION: Barrel has been refinished, and the muzzle appears to have been cleaned a bit, perhaps very very slightly trimmed to keep the edges sharp. Bore is worn. Stock has been refinished with some minor older cracks. Some of the screws appear to be reproductions. Brass has been polished bright. Lock is in good working order. Ramrod is a little too long for the gun. No spare nipple in patchbox.
