Standard side lever Hall 1843 carbine. Made by S. North in 1844. This gun is still in the original .52 caliber smoothbore configuration. The total production was approximately 10,500 with 5,000 of them having been converted to .58 caliber and rifled for the Civil War. CONDITION: The breechblock and receiver area retain a pleasing patina, the rest of the metal having been cleaned to bright with some light pitting. Markings are clear. Stock has been refinished with visible cartouches on either side. Good mechanical function. Bore has light pitting throughout.
