A)Remington Argentine contract of 1879 to 1891 saddle ring carbine with octagonal breech. Barrel marked "Modelo Argentine 1879 E.N. and has blade front sight and carbine rear sight. Action has rail with saddle ring on left side. Walnut stocks, with steel buttplate and steel forearm band. E. Remington and Sons ILion, NY. U.S.A. marked tang. B) Remington Argentine contract of 1879 to 1891 musket with octagonal breech. Barrel marked "Modelo Argentine 1879 E.N. and has blade front sight and graduated rear sight. Bayonet stud on right side front of barrel. 3 barrel bands with original sling swivels and an original ramrod. Walnut stocks, with steel buttplate. E. Remington and Sons Ilion, NY. U.S.A. marked tang. CONDITION: A) Barrel retains 90% of an old reblue with some slight pitting. Bore is poor and pitted. Action retains 90% reapplied blue with some pitting. Hardware also has been reblued with some slight wear. Stock retains 90% varnish from old refinish with some dings and handling marks. Mechanically sound and functions. B) Barrel has been cleaned and polished with some slight oxidation recurring. Bore dark and rough. Action has been cleaned to a light silvery finish along with hardware. Wood retains dry finish with minor dings and handling marks. Mechanically sound and functions.
