This is a very desirable Model 61 in .22 Short and features the Winchester trademark stamp in red on left side of frame with the equally scarce pre-war octagon barrel. Comes with a late style picture box. Features octagon barrel, 2/3 tubular magazine, sporting sights, short flat bottom ten groove walnut stock, blued finish, takedown, plain pistol grip walnut buttstocks and checkered steel buttplate. This rifle has seen use but was well-cared for. Octagon barrel has razor sharp edges and legends with overall high edge wear. Tube and barrel retain approximately 85% original factory blue with usual rubs areas and high edge wear by slide. Frame retains approximately 80%of the high polish blue with freckling of original surface affecting the remaining percent. 95% trigger guard. Stock is very good and proud to metal with numerous little impressions, especially along bottom of buttstock. The tube is thinning at bottom from loading port to forearm. Strong rifling.
