Features special order half octagon pencil weight barrel, Lyman hunting front sight (all pencil barrels have barrel mounted front sights as there is not a metal to cut into a dovetail), full magazine, Lyman three leaf rear sight, blued finish, case colored hammer and lever, deluxe triple X piano finish checkered walnut stock with gutta percha grip cap and shotgun buttplate. CONDITION: Barrel retains approximately 70% blue mixing with grey soft patina. Tube is about 85%. Left side of frame is approximately 60%; right side of frame is approximately 80%. Beautiful forend has been revarnished as there is varnish in the checkering. Buttstock exhibits beautiful grain, no varnish in the checkering. Case colors have patterned out. Wood is beautiful. Action is fine. Strong, well defined rifling with slightly frosted grooves. Very handsome, deluxe antique Winchester that it simply looks like they wiped on some added finish and varnish to shine it up. Factory research states this rifle was shipped as an extra light octagon barrel in .30 caliber with checkered pistol grip stock, rubber shotgun butt and oil finish. Shipped on November 2nd, 1900 but the serial number was applied April 7th, 1898, making this rifle antique. Research lists Lyman rear cup disc tang sight which is no longer present.
