Approximately 20,000 early to mid-60's. Features octagon barrel, hinged loading lever, flat side frame, heart shaped trigger guard, ring lever. This is a Government purchase as evidenced by numerous inspector letters; total Government purchases 11,984. Top of the frame has the Savage patent dates. Left side of barrel has inspector stamp "H", as does frame and cylinder, which has two. CONDITION: Entire gun is brown patina. Cylinder has all the original nipples. Two piece walnut grips are very good with numerous nicks. Bore shows strong rifling with light black powder abrasion. Cylinder does not advance and needs some attention. Very large and hard to find unusual Civil War revolver.
