Late Ptolemaic period, Egypt. The hawk wrapped in appropriate material, the face decorated with painted eyes and markings, wrappings are now age darkened to a chocolate brown color. Overall good condition. Hawk is 13" long. Note: This mummy has not be forensically tested. Almost all Egyptians gods were associated with an animal and assumed the form of that particular beast, the main concentration of burials were at sites with association to a bird like deity. These deities and accompanied centers were located throughout the Delta areas of Egypt.
