Inside left grip frame is stamped with Alvin White engraver stamp. Alvin white was one of the most respected master engravers to work at Colt in the 20th century. Alvin White's style of scrollwork is influence by British taste of the late flintlock period. This gun exhibits Type C engraving. You can find an entire chapter devoted to White in the book "Colt Engraving" by Wilson. He made custom guns for the likes of J. Edgar Hoover, Presidents Nixon, Ford, Johnson and Kennedy as well as entertainers, congressmen and prominent business men. The book states he did not do a lot of American type scroll in punch dot, he would obviously do whatever the customer wanted as this Colt exhibits typical American style of Helfricht and Nimschke. The left recoil shield has an Indian head similar to a buffalo nickel inlaid in gate and the right loading gate has the previous owner's initials "RC". Grips are two piece ivory. Entire gun is silver plated. CONDITION: Gun is new, unfired since embellished.
