18th century or earlier. The page, on parchment, picturing a baptismal scene on a field of gold leaf with Latin manuscript, now in a modern display box. Parchment is rippled and stiff, decoration is mostly intact with normal and expected losses. The center of the top of the sheet with a "V" shaped 1" tear, part of the fabric remains, lower quarter with a crease, otherwise good. 12" x 14". Provenance: From a Private collection, many which were decommissioned from The Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn, New York in the mid 20th century. CORRECTION: We have been advised that the paper is of the period and was part of a choir book. We believe that a significant portion of the document has been altered and painted at a later date.
