(1965) Each gun has two sets of barrels, one set 26" and the 12 gauge gun has additional 30" barrels while the 20 bore has 28". All barrel sets are fitted with matted Churchill ribs, and are engraved "Westley Richards & Co" "Birmingham. England." on tops. All barrel sets are stamped with Birmingham nitro proofs for 2 - 3/4" chambers. Serial numbers are stamped on bottoms of barrels. Case hardened H&H type sidelock actions feature non-automatic safeties, hidden third fasteners, side clips, gold plated internals, engraved tumbler end cocking indicators, H&H type hand detachable locks, and gold-plated single selective triggers. Triggers are of Baker type and select by pushing finger blade forward. Opening lever resets trigger to right barrel first. This is a very highly regarded trigger used extensively in the trade. These guns were made for Westley Richards by the renowned firm of A. A. Brown & Son" whose logos appear in rear lump wells on actions. The 20 bore action is scaled down in size, and both are engraved with very well cut large open shaded scroll with acanthus highlights within scroll and geometric borders. "Westley Richards" is in scrolled riband at the front of each lockplate, and bottoms of actions are engraved "Selective" "Single" "Trigger". Blued top levers and small bow trigger guards are engraved with matching scroll. Serial numbers are on trigger guard tangs. Well matched nicely marbled and flame figured European walnut straight grip buttstocks measure 15 - 1/4" over tan leather covered pads. Stocks are classically shaped with well carved drop points and point pattern checkering on diamond hands. Vacant gold rectangular crest plates are on swept toe lines. Matching splinter ejector forends have gold plated Southgate ejector internals, and Anson releases. Guns are housed in large leather motor case with stitched leather corners, with lift-out tray for short barrels. Case and tray are lined in green cloth. Paper Westley Richards Bournbrook label is in lid. Case has wells for accessories which include cleaning equipment, Westley Richards marked round oil bottle, and two pairs of snap caps (one 12 bore, and one 20 bore). CONDITION: Excellent, as completely refreshed in London, retaining nearly all correct finishes on all wood and metal surfaces. Both guns show a bit of hand wear with light silvering on beads and at grips. There are also a scattering of light handling marks in wood finish. Bores are excellent. Mechanically excellent. Case leather is very fine with some rubs and bumps. Straps and handle show wear, one strap broken. Interior cloth is very fine to excellent with rubs and light soiling. A superb brace of guns with barrel combinations for almost any hunting environment (but not as a pair). MGM66
