High quality guns by Sempert & Krieghoff are always something special. This "best" double shotgun has 29 - 1/2" dovetailed barrels with slightly raised, concave matted rib. Tops of barrels are engraved "Sempert & Krieghoff" and "Suhl" Barrel flats are stamped with German nitro proofs for 2 - 1/2" chambers, with a proof date of May 1925. Bottoms of barrels are marked for "Roechlings Elektro" steel. French grey sidelock action is stocked to the fences and features automatic safety (SICHER engraved), hidden crossbolt third fastener, side clips, raised rib tumbler end cocking indicators, and double triggers (front articulated). Action is engraved with near full coverage well cut varying sized shaded scroll. "Sempert & Krieghoff" is in arched band on each lockplate. Steel trigger guard has scroll on bow surrounding relief engraved monogram "HB". Beautifully tiger striped and dark veined European walnut horn capped pistol grip buttstock measures 13 - 3/4" over ribbed horn buttplate. Stock features slight Monte Carlo to comb, right hand cheekpiece, inlet arrowhead type horn drop points with ivory dot highlights, and point pattern checkering at grip. Barrel and bottom of stock are fitted with sling loops. Matching splinter ejector forend with inset horn tip has Deeley release. Gun is housed in tan leather case lined in green cloth, and has reproduction Sempert & Krieghoff label in lid. Case contains 2 piece aluminum and vinyl Parker Hale cleaning rod, gold-plated snap caps, brass vaseline jar engraved "Sempert & Krieghoff", and covered compartment has burl elm veneered cover. CONDITION: Fine, as mostly refinished. Barrels retain nearly all of a lustrous re-black. Action and lockplates have most of their original french grey finish, lightly cleaned. Stocks have new expertly done hand rubbed oil finish with a few very light marks. Checkering competently re-cut. Bores are excellent. Action is tight. Ejectors are strong and in time. Case has some light scuffs in external leather. Straps and handle are good. Renewed cloth is excellent. Accessories are excellent. MGM 130
