This unusual combination fowler was probably made by a talented Kentucky long rifle maker. It features twin smooth bore Damascus steel barrel on top, separated by a solid rib with an adjustable rear ramp sight mounted on it. Ramrods are mounted on each side of the the larger round Damascus steel smooth bore barrel on the bottom. There are twin back action percussion locks for the top two barrels, both are stamp engraved and signed "JOSH GOLCHER". The bottom barrel features a crudely made percussion hammer operated by the back trigger, which also operates the right action. Steel furniture includes buttplate, small two piece patch box and ram rod furls. A small crescent moon of silver is inlaid on the left side of the buttstock. The buttstock is of highly figured maple and retains an old dark finish. Ramrods are old but probably not original. CONDITION: Good. Barrels retains a spotted gray patina with scattered areas of freckling and some heavier corrosion around breeches. Action all function well and retain a gray patina. Hammers have some corrosion. Steel furniture retains a gray patina. Stock is good with some minor chipping around actions and scattered marks from use. This is a very unusual and possibly unique combination Kentucky.
