26" and 27" Dovetailed barrels are both fitted with narrow, slightly swamped game ribs. 26" Barrels (original) are stamped with makers name on tops, and engraved "Griffin & Howe. Inc. New York, N.Y." on rib. 27" Barrels are engraved "Extra Barrels By W & C. Scott. (Gunmakers) Ltd." "Birmingham, England" on tops. Barrel flats are stamped with Birmingham nitro proofs for 2-3/4" chambers. Case hardened boxlock action features automatic safety and double triggers, and is engraved with 50% coverage foliate scroll. Makers name is stamped on both sides. Blued top lever, floorplate, trigger plate, and trigger guard are also lightly engraved. Serial number is on trigger guard tang. Somewhat stump figured European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14 - 1/2" over serrated wood butt. Point pattern checkering is at grip, and a silver oval on toe line is engraved "EL". Matching splinter ejector forend with Anson release, services both barrel sets. Gun and extra barrels are housed in a good quality green canvas case, with tan leather trim. Case is lined in green cloth and has Webley & Scott label in lid. Case contains a pair of snap caps and an English made square oil bottle with G&H name and address engraved around top. CONDITION: Excellent with evidence of only very slight field use and limited firing. Barrels retain approx 98% original blue with some light scratches and marks. Blue on newer barrels is considerably more shiny than original barrels. Action retains approx 95% original color, silvered on fences. Blued parts retain essentially all of their blue. Stocks have nearly all of their original finish with some light handling marks. Checkering is sharp. Forend has a 3/4" x 1/16" sliver of wood missing on left side of barrel channel near tip. Bores are excellent. Mechanically excellent. Ejectors are slightly out of time. Case canvas is faded and has numerous marks. Straps and handle are good. Interior cloth is fine, detaching in lid. Label is very fine. These serviceable and well made guns are getting harder to find. MGM49
