Circa 1850, London. First pistol is signed and bolt and front action percussion lock, finely engraved with scrolling foliage and beaded boarder. Original cock engraved en suite. The Damascus octagon barrel is signed "Blanch London". Finely figured dark walnut full stock, checkered at grip, finely engraved trigger guard with pineapple finial, stirrup ram rod. Second pistol is virtually identical to pistol number one, both pistols display John Blanch's characteristic excellence of manufacture. Pistol 1 Condition: Box is crisp with crisp engraving, thumb piece intact and not broken, barrel worn with some Damascus remaining, trigger guard with good engraving but no original finish, checkered full stock with crisp checkering and possible some added varnish finish, lock is crisp as new. Pistol 2 Condition: in virtually the same condition as pistol. Oak case with green lining of recent date, original bag flask and other accessories, trade label is a modern reproduction.
