This gun is gun comes in a rare matte satin blue finish with sharp legends and edges. Sports the early 1950's type Colt logo red marbled grips. CONDITION: Still retains approximately 98% of the matte satin finish. Fine bore and action. Even the bottom of the magazine is parkerized. Factory letter states serial number 71460 being shipped as a blued pistol, sent on November 4th, 1948 to the W. Bingham Company, 1278 West 9th street, Cleveland, shipped to Geo. H. Watrous Hardware, Athens, Pennsylvania in a shipment of one gun. The finish on this gun appears to be 100% factory, and a shipment of one gun would indicate a special order (i.e. something not in inventory). Because it is finished in brushed blue, the factory may have simply entered "Blue" in the ledger. Is this a one of a kind brush blue post-war .38 shipped as a special order and simply mis-listed?
