It features six shot, double action, nickel finish with fire blued screws, hammer and trigger, pearl grips, case colored lanyard loop and acid etched panel on left side of barrel. Stamped ".44 CAL" on left trigger bow. Barrel is etched "COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER". Fire blued parts include ejector rod, cylinder pin, cylinder release pin, trigger, hammer and all of the screws with the exception of the bottom grip strap screw which has turned grey. These small parts retain nearly all of their nitre blue. The barrel and ejector rod housing retain 99% nickel. Cylinder retains 99% nickel and shows no signs of having ever been fired. Left side of frame has 90% nickel with some blending grey patina on high edges, similar on right side with a bit more thinning towards the back. Trigger guard and front strap retain 98% nickel. Backstrap has 90% nickel with some light age freckling. Pearl grips are well fitted and in excellent condition. Index and timing are like new. Near mint bore. According to the factory record, this revolver was shipped on September 4th, 1882 to Schovering, Daly & Gales of New York as a 7-1/2" blued gun. This gun has wear where noted and appears to be 100% factory original in this writers opinion. Otherwise, it would had to have been redone almost immediately because of the Colt quality and present wear. The people doing this quality of restoration has only been done in the last twenty years and the noted wear does not appear to have been acquired within the last twenty years because of toning. It is our opinion that this is simply another factory ledger error of which we are all familiar with. You will have to look at it and decide for yourself.
