There is a letter than accompanies this pistol from the son of the original owner, "The pistol belonged to my father, Glen W. Nelson, who served in the marines during World War II in the Pacific with the 6th Marine Division and the China Marines thereafter. He later served as an officer at the CIA and was stationed in Tokyo until the 1960's. He purchased this pistol in 1960. Then engraving was done by Ogawa in 1960-1961 in Tokyo to include the small gold spread wing eagle on top of slide. Original wood stocks were recheckered Enoki." The entire surface of this handgun has been deep hand cut chisel engraved with scroll and punch. Grips were checkered with a decorative pattern around border. This is an early tangent sight model graduated to 500 yards. Frame and slide are finished in a bronze tone with high polish blue slide stop, safety, sights and magazine release. Even the magazine base is engraved as is the slide stop. About the only thing not engraved is the rear sight. Matching numbers on slide and frame with a mismatched barrel number. CONDITION: Gun is in near new condition inside and out after the work has been done.
